Ms. Duren - VP for students A-L

Ms. Ashley Duren

Ms. Ashley Duren has been a secondary school educator within San Diego Unified for 15 years. Beginning her career as a English Language Arts and Visual Arts teacher at Lewis Middle School in 2005, she transferred to Pacific Beach Middle School, an International Baccalaureate World School, in 2007, where she continued to teach English as well as Social Sciences and the Visual Arts.

A class of 2000 graduate of San Diego State University, Ms. Duren's Bachelor of Arts Degree is in Communications, with an emphasis in Public Relations. In 2008 she earned her first Master's Degree in Education, and in 2018 she earned her second Master's Degree in Administration.

Her passion in education centers around supporting students to explore their interests and learn about local opportunities through professional and college settings, such as through technical pathways, internships, and working with community partners. The classroom is only the very first step in learning; it's what you do with those skills outside of the school setting that will truly set you on your path!

In her free time, Ms. Duren loves to surf, golf, and trains in the martial arts. She is also an avid reader and enjoys painting.

When it comes to success, there is just no substitute for hard work, time spent, and persistence. "The harder we work, the luckier we get!"
