Principal's Update Aug.19th

Good afternoon Morse families. We have additional days for students to pick up Chromebooks. We will distribute Chromebooks to students on Friday, August 21st and Monday, August 24th from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. There is NO student alpha breakdown. ALL students in grades 9-12, who DO NOT have a Chromebook, NEED to come to Morse on one of these two days. Please make the effort and time to do this. If you ALREADY HAVE A CHROMEBOOK, we DO NOT need you to come to Morse on Friday or Monday. You can continue using the Chromebook you already have in your possession.

IMPORTANT: We do need ALL students to have a district-issued Chromebook checked out to them EVEN IF they have access to another computer/laptop at home. There are specific applications that we need to ensure students have access. So ALL students need to have a district-issued Chromebook checked out to them.

Students DO NOT need their parents to come to Morse if they are able to get to Morse on their own. Parents can also come to Morse on their own to pick up their child's Chromebook.

Drive Through Pick Up Procedures
  • We are asking families to stay in their vehicles when coming to pick up their child’s netbook.
  • Please bring your photo ID and show proof of identity for your child by providing the following:
    • Student’s school ID card OR
    • Student ID number OR
    • Student’s date of birth and address

  • IMPORTANT: Write student’s name, ID number, or date of birth and address in large print on a sheet of paper that can be easily ready by staff members from a distance of at least 6 feet. Carry this with you to the line or place on the dash or your car, and be prepared to show it to staff.

Walk-Up Pick Up Procedures
  • If you do not plan to drive to Morse to pick up your Chromebook, you will be directed to another line to receive your Chromebook. Please still have the proof of ID and student’s information as stated above.

And in the event you did not get to review the recording of the parent informational meeting held on Monday or review the PowerPoint I used in this meeting, here it is again. Please take the time to review these items as they answer LOTS of questions I have been receiving from parents. And while I am obviously open to answering questions, I am getting a lot of emails about questions that have been answered in the recording and the PowerPoint.

I have attached a link to the meeting recording AND a link to the PowerPoint (CLICK HERE) so you have access to ALL of the links on the PowerPoint.

And also do not forget that you can also contact your child's alpha VP for questions as well. Here is their information:

VP Duren has alpha A-L ([email protected]) and VP Malcolm has alpha M-Z ([email protected]).

Textbook Return
Current 10th-12 graders: If you still have textbooks at home from the 2019-20 school year, we NEED you to also return them to Morse ASAP. We are busily preparing to distribute textbooks in the next couple of weeks and need ALL previously checkout books returned to Morse ASAP.

If you are a 9th grader still in possession of textbooks from 8th grade, those need to be returned to your previous school and NOT Morse.

Thank you again.
