New Standards-Based Grading

New Standards-Based Grading
Posted on 01/21/2021

Hello Morse families. As you may know, in October 2020, the San Diego Unified School District’s (SDUSD) Board of Education voted to implement a new Standards-Based Grading Policy (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1m4wPjPypdVAVGHnbnLsqq1ymMkxPXV8eCrvaHBgE91o/edit?usp=sharing).

Part of the implementation of our new grading policies states that students will be allowed to submit work after the designated due date, revise work for resubmission, and retake assessments as needed. And all non-academic factors such as attendance and behavior cannot be factored into a student's academic grade. These non-academic factors can be factored into a student's citizenship grade, however.

This new grading policy is very new for Morse and our teachers revised their grading policies based on the parameters identified by our district. Please know that the attached policies are for the 2020-21 school year only and further revisions will be made to these policies for the 2021-22 school year.

The Quarter 2 grading period ends on Friday, January 22nd (tomorrow). We are about to begin a new grading period on Monday, January 25th...Quarter 3. Please review these new grading policies by department. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me.

Thank you!
