School Site Council (SSC) Minutes October 7, 2014

Members Present: E. Ahlgren,C. Brown-Martinez, M. Gendron, H. A. Green, G. Guilas, M. Irby, J. Johnson, L.Sanchez, J. Orona, R. Rockett

StudentsPresent: None

Ex.Officios: Harry Shelton, Principal;William Laine, Vice Principal

A quorum was present.

The meeting wascalled to order by Mr. Gendron, Chairperson, at 5:05 p.m. The Council welcomed new and returningmembers. Everyone was introduced. Mr.Gendron asked the Council to read the Minutes for approval. Ms. Ahlgren motionedto approve the Minutes.

Ms. Sanchez secondedthe motion. The Minutes were approved aswritten.

Parent Report (Orono):

The followingparents were elected.

The followingclassroom teachers were elected by their peers.

The students for SchoolSite Council have not held their elections. Any questions are directed to Mr.Duffy, ASB Advisor.

Ms. Orona announcedmore workshops are coming. Coffee with the Principal is held the first Fridayof every month.

National ParentInvolvement Day is November 20, 2014.

Principal's Report (Shelton):

Learning Upgrade isa software program for struggling students. Ms. Ahlgren motioned to purchase Learning Upgrade, up to $5,000, to helpstruggling students pass the CAHSSE. Ms.Johnson seconded the motion. Motioncarried.

Vice Principal's Report:

Morse Emergency SitePlan presented and reviewed. The EmergencyResponse Box is kept in the main office. It is updated once a year.

Ms. Ahlgren questioned,"How often is the roster updated?" Mr.Laine replied, "Once a year."

ELAC (Martinez-Brown):

CELDT Testing isongoing.

Integrated Math 2 Team Proposal (Sanchez):

Tabled until nextSSC meeting.

DAC Report (Green/Gendron):

No report

Round Table:

1. Guilas: PTSA Exec. Meeting will be every month afterthe staff meeting.
2. Irby: Nothing

Lourdes: Nothing

Green: Nothing

Ahlgren: Nothing

Laine: Accepted theCIF Plaque.

Martinez-Brown: Nothing

Orona: "We need to anew SSC Chairperson."

Gendron: Nothing

Shelton: Homeless population is 310 students. Homecoming game this Saturday, 10/11/2014;Morse vs Hoover.

The meeting wasadjourned at 6:15 p.m. The next SSC meetingwill be November 4, 2014 in the Morse Library.
