School Site Council (SSC) Minutes
February 2, 2016
Member Present: M. Gendron, , G. Guilas, J. Orona, L. Sanchez, H. Shelton, M. Irby, R. Rockett, Caroline Siegel-Singh (student).
Members Absent: Y. Black , H. Green ,E. Campos-Benitez (student), Y. Black, N. Natanun
Called to order @ 4:06 pm. Corrected Minutes were approved . J. Orona/G. Guilas
Corrections included the following:
*Spelling corrections
*Parent Workshop- "Destination College" was added
Parent Report:
On Feb. 5, 2016 We will be having Principal's pastries and Counselors coffee with parents in the morning.
On Feb. 23, PTSA board members will attend the Founder's Day Celebration 8:00 am -12:00 pm. This is event will be attended by all PTSA District board members.
On Feb. 24, Morse will be celebrating Black History. The program is facilitated by Ms. Taylor. PTSA is supporting this effort. The program will start at 5:00 pm. This program is open to the whole community.
New Business: None
Principal's Report:
Principal reviewed adjustments to the 2015-2016 school budget. He also reviewed the district expenditure guidelines. Lastly, he reviewed Online Learning Center in Morse Library. We will be getting 100 lap tops, air conditioner LD lights, new carpet and more.
ELAC: There is no report.
SSC will take responsibility over this body.
DAC Report: There was no report.
Round Table:
The Morse Business Expo coordinated by Mr. Calvin was very successful. May be next year it could be extended to different buildings so there is more space. Twenty students will be competing at SDSU Science Fair. Morse Color Guard will be part of the program at Cox Arena. There are schedule COSMOS workshops for Morse students. 57 Morse MESA students will be attending SDSU for their preliminary STEM competitions February 20, 2016.
Public Comments:
More students are taking advantage of the FREE LUNCH program for all at Morse.
