Dear Parents:
Morse High School will start CASSAS on Saturday, September 7, 2024. The Core Academy: Supporting Student Achievement Success (CASSAS) program is an excellent way for your child to make up missed classes and enjoy a day filled with academic learning and enriching experiences. The schedule for Morse’s CASSAS classes will be the following:
8:00 – 9:50 a.m. Instruction
9:50 – 10:10 a.m. Nutrition Break (20 min.)
10:10 – 11:40 p.m. Instruction
11:40 – 12:00 p.m. Nutrition Break and Dismissal (20 min.)
Please encourage your child to arrive before 8:00 am. CASSAS is an additional instructional day that provides academic and enrichment support in a variety of core subject areas to assist students in reaching their academic and enrichment goals. The Morse CASSAS program is designed based on the need of our school community and students registered to attend. CASSAS provides instruction for a minimum of four (4) hours and students should report to Morse by 7:50am to sign in and the last instructional round will end at 12pm.
As Per Education Code, Section 49550, a nutritious meal is provided by SDUSD’s Food Services Department Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) or Provision 2 Schools:
“
A breakfast meal and lunch is available for all students attending CASSAS at no charge.” This meal will be offered to all participating students during the instructional Saturday.
CASSAS participation is made available to all students, and students can make up full day absences or unexcused absences by attending.
CASSAS will offer the following opportunities for students to attend this Saturday:
- Mix/Media
- Art
- Theatre
- Physical Education
- Gardening workshops and culinary/horticulture
- Social Emotional Learning
- ELD Supports
- Tutoring support in various curricular areas
- Finance and Career Workshops
- College Tours
- College readiness classes, and much more!
Please note that we encourage Morse students with absences and uncleared absences to attend, but all Morse students are welcome at any CASSAS to take part in these educational, novel and enriching activities. GO TIGERS!!

MAKE UP YOUR UNEXCUSED ABSENCES AND TARDIES.
REASONS WHY:
- YOU CAN BE REFERRED TO THE STUDENT ATTENDANCE REVIEW BOARD PROCESS AND SAN DIEGO SUPERIOR COURT DIVERSION PROGRAM.
- PARENTS/GUARDIANS CAN GET FINED/TICKETED FOR YOUR TRUANCY AND UNEXCUSED ABSENCES TO CLASSES.
- YOU WILL BE PLACED ON THE LOP LIST AND MISS SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Morse students with absences and un-cleared absences should attend.
However, all Morse students are welcome at any CASSAS to take part in these educational, novel and enriching activities.
To sign up for CASSAS/Saturday school go the Morse webpage. Click Student Life. Then click CASSAS/Saturday School. Once there click the "Sign Up Here" link and enter your information.
Room locations will be identified when signing in on Saturday and restrooms in the main Tiger Quad area will be open for use during CASSAS.
